Imdadul Islamic Centre. The Al Andalus Model Comes to Toronto.

A partnership between Imdadul Islamic Centre and Tawakkul REIT to bring a 55+ community — with a masjid on its grounds — to Toronto.

The Story

For decades, Imdadul Islamic Centre has been a home for Toronto’s Muslim community — a place of prayer, learning, and belonging. The generation that filled its halls and carried its mission now deserves homes designed for their next chapter, in the city they built.

The model is Al Andalus — pioneered in Mississauga, now coming to Toronto. Tawakkul acquires an established apartment building and renews it as a 55+ community, with a masjid raised on the grounds so the adhan is part of home. Not a retirement home: independent living, centred on faith.

Through a Musharaka co-ownership partnership, Imdadul brings the community and Tawakkul brings the capital. No interest. Real ownership, shared between the institution and the investors who believe in it. This is the Ansar and the Muhajirun — those who have, opening the way for those who arrive.

Community Living

“For decades, Imdadul has been a home for prayer, learning, and belonging in Toronto. Bringing the Al Andalus model to our community means the generation that built this Centre can grow older within it — surrounded by the community they raised, with the adhan part of daily life.”

— Brother Zafarullah Khan, Vice President, Imdadul Islamic Centre
