École Ibn Batouta. A School That Built Trust. A Community Built Around It.

École Ibn Batouta and Tawakkul REIT are partnering to bring a brand-new community to the school’s doorstep in Ottawa.

The Story

A school is a promise a community makes to its children. École Ibn Batouta has kept that promise in Ottawa for more than twenty years — classrooms where academic excellence and Islamic character grow together, in both of Canada’s languages.

Now comes the next chapter. Through their partnership signed in June 2026, École Ibn Batouta and Tawakkul will announce a brand-new community near the school — built around the institution families already trust, so that home, school, and community grow together, inshaAllah. Details will be shared as the vision takes shape.

The school brings two decades of trust and a community of families. Tawakkul brings the capital and a zero-debt, zero-interest structure endorsed by formal Fatwa — and a partnership that builds an enduring income stream for education. The lesson underneath it all is the one the school teaches every day: build on halal ground, and build to last.

Community Living

“A school is a promise a community makes to its children, and École Ibn Batouta has kept that promise in Ottawa for more than twenty years. Building a community around our school means families can live near the institution they trust — and every generation benefits, from our students to their grandparents.”

— Abdillahi A. Ahmed, President, École Ibn Batouta
